"Mark spot you visit the least", Data Jamming Project, 2009
A public intervention by Manali Jagtap Nyheim to alter the media ecology of Chalkwell Park (Southend-on-Sea)
Date: 21 October 2009
Medium: Print
SYNOPSIS:
“Dead Spots” was a public intervention in Chalkwell Park (Southend-on-Sea) that sought to identify and find uses for the least visited areas of the park.
What spots in the Park are frequently used and which are not? Why are some spots not used at all?
This simple intervention used an A2 map of the Park and placed it in the Park’s conservatory – along with PostIt notes and pens. People’s responses were varied and humorous, ranging from “I like to avoid my son”, to “Feels like it should not be walked on”.
